Richard Perlmutter is the creator, lyricist and featured performer of Beethoven’s Wig, one of the most honored series of recordings in family music with over 50 awards, including 4 Grammy award nominations, 5 Parents Choice awards, and 4 Notable Recording Designations by the American Library Association. Accompanied by four opera singers, Perlmutter has performed with symphony orchestras and ensembles at venues ranging from the Hollywood Bowl, to Rockefeller Plaza on the Today Show, to the Grammy Museum. He has also done solo shows and performances accompanied by animation in which he talks to and sings along with Beethoven and a cartoon orchestra projected onto a big screen. Cartoons from the show were produced by EMMY Award Winning Smiley Guy Studios and have won awards at the Ottawa International Animation Festival, the SNOB Film Festival, and at Anima Mundi – The International Animation Festival of Brazil. Two collections of Beethoven’s Wig songs, as well as choral editions, have been published by Alfred Music.
